Something like this isn’t needed, but it’s nice to have! Usually, all you need to do is loosen your caliper bolts, squeeze the brakes, tighten the bolts, and release the brakes, and you are good to go (for most cases), but this can get tricky if you have a slight wobble in your rotor; this little spacer gives you that extra play to make alignment quicker in this case, it works great. I use them all the time now; it’s worth the money.

Well made, they are super easy to use and do a great job of assisting with perfect brake spacing. Cost half what some other brands do and work just as well.

Makes the centering of you new pads very easy so they grab nice and even which will make them wear even and last longer. Highly recommend

These shims makes doing alignment ultra straightforward on the first try. The usual method of squeezing the brake pads against the disc then tightening the caliper bolts just is not as consistent or precise as using the shims. All this for $6 is quite amazing. I think the shims somehow compensate for intrinsic slight differences in how the individual opposing pistons move in the caliper.

At first I thought these were a bit cheesy… thing of them as feeler gauges for your rotors… aligned calipers super easy and without drag… worth the few bucks I spent for sure considering 5 family bikes are on discs…

I love the concept and decided to try it. I tune and fix bikes of all kinds all the time and the task of aligning disc brakes can be tedious at times when trying to center the pads. What I found with this product is that it doesn’t always fit in the allotted space between the pads and rotor. Some brake calipers which self adjust will leave less space than the thickness of these truing shims. The shims are .008″ thick and I found at times the only way to insert them is to remove the pads and compress the caliper pucks. Then insert the shim and apply the brakes at the brake lever. Then tighten your bolts. I would like to see these guys develop a thinner shim and offer it. I’d like to see a .005-.006″ shim available.
