Semble robuste.

So far I do love this rack. It is clearly very sturdy and durable. Actual installation is fairly easy once you assemble everything as far as the instructions assume when you receive the item. Not to beat a dead horse, but the instructions (“instruction”) are hilarious and essentially useless. Like it would have killed them to pay a college student $50 to translate and/or write them. Moreover, the photos aren’t detailed enough to answer a couple important assembly questions one will have. The packaging is pretty comical, and one of the hardware bags had a rip in it, so I had bolts and washers cascading all over as I began removing the bubble wrap from everything. I wondered whether I received one that had been a return or at least previously opened. Also, the reflector that came with it was broken. I didn’t bother super gluing it back together as my existing reflector happened to fit on the bracket. I think most people would have just returned the item because of that. Initial assembly was pretty complicated because there weren’t even numbers of any of the hardware items. I assumed some of the items were extra, which was only true of the lock nuts and washers. The hex cap bolts didn’t make a lot of sense in quantities, and I had to mix and match a bit to figure out which length I should use for everything. There were 8 bolts that were really too long for any spot they were needed, so those were the ones I used to secure the bed of the rack to the supports. Bolts sticking out underneath/inside that area shouldn’t be a problem. I do recommend that you just buy a new set of hex cap bolts that are overall a bit shorter than the ones included. I might do that eventually and swap them all out. Once I got everything assembled to the level the instructions assume you receive it, then the remaining installation was pretty easy. The only question is which side to install the two main support arms. They have a rail for attaching the extra center support, and it is not symmetrically placed. Picking the right side does seem to matter. I think neither option is actually good, as that extra arm doesn’t really line up properly no matter which side the main arm is on. Depending on how far back and how high you place the main tray, that extra arm doesn’t really seat properly once tightened. I considered not installing that at all, since I don’t think it is really necessary. I would definitely install it if you do plan to load the rack up with 100 pounds of gear. I expect to have 20 pounds of gear on it at most. Now it is installed and in use on a Cannondale Treadwell 2.

Prior to needing a rack on my fat tire bicycle, I had a Mud Shovel fender that I absolutely loved because it keeps the dirt, puddles, and mud off of me. Then I decided to do some bike camping and needed panniers, which means a rack. Problem: my Mud Shovel mounts to the seat post and no go on a seatpost-mounted rack too. Not knowing how much weight I might ever want to carry, I decided to get the beefiest rack I could find that was wide enough to clear my 4″ tires and frame. After hours and hours of reading and comparing, I decided on this rack. I took particular notice of the 3 set screws underneath the main tube of this rack, thinking I might be able to mount my beloved Mud Shovel by them. I snapped the fender off of its mount and punched holes that correspond to the rackโ€™s set screws. It worked and I couldn’t be happier. Yes, the rack itself would have caught some of the water, dirt/mud, but itโ€™s not wide enough to catch all that the 4″ knobby tires throw up. The fender keeps my panniers and trunk bag pretty clean, which is a great thing.

The rack was simple to install by keeping the photo in this listing on the screen for reference. Instructions weren’t really needed, which is fortunate because the sheet provided by the manufacturer sucks large. Once installed, this thing is a beast. It’s well strong enough to carry another adult person. The rack makes no noise whatsoever, no rattling, creaking or squeaking. I’m extremely sensitive to any noise my bike and its accessories might make because I ride where it’s near dead silent most of the time.

The rack has been utilized in many different ways, and it always performs well. Iโ€™ve tie-wrapped a huge metal mesh basket to the rack and hauled groceries. Using large voile straps, Iโ€™ve attached a 15-lb. propane tank to the rack and rode 11 miles home without so much as a shift of the tank. The panniers that I travel with attach to the rack and ride perfectly. I have both the saddlebag-type panniers that are attached together and get thrown over the rack and attached with velcro & also a set of 27l panniers that clip on in 3 points of the rack. Both types ride equally well on the rack. I couldn’t be more pleased.

UPDATE 6/2/22 โ€” after many months I appreciate this rack so much. Itโ€™s perfect at keeping any size or shaped pannier out of your wheel. I have the rack as far back from the saddle as it will go and my feet are never in conflict with a fully packed pannier. I ride on some rough terrain, so I check the bolts regularly, and none of them have loosened at all. Iโ€™d definitely buy it again, and the fender has worked out extremely well.

Please mark this review as โ€˜helpfulโ€™ if it has been, it helps others see it too. Thank you.

Seems like a good product. Nice and strong. Took about 30 minutes to assemble. A bit fiddly. Not helped by really rubbish instructions. The video was more useful, but in neither do they specify which one of the three types of bolt you’re to use in the various places. Some guesswork required. Used once so far as a seat to take my 30kg son to school. Seems good.

This is sturdy, has multiple attachment points, is easy enough to assemble (although the instructions were of no use). It is well made, and big enough to fit my fat bike with no trouble or modification. It is also more than capable of supporting my weight once installed. I wanted to make sure it wouldn’t break once on the road so I stood on it. Didn’t even budge. I would give it a 4.5 for being an overall good amazon purchase. I would highly recommend this.

I love this rack on my fat tire e-bike. I have the Hiboy P6 with the 4″ knobby tires. I tried another rack first but that one didn’t fit. This one fits just right and is built solid! It’s rated to hold more weight than my bike, which is a huge plus. The only downside is the rear reflector. I have a tail light/brake light that I’d like to mount on the back of it, but I’m still figuring out if I can mount it there. I wish that there was a mount in the back that I could just bolt the light up to. Installation instructions weren’t great, but the install process is fairly intuitive. Entire install process maybe took 30-45 min.

The extra support struts add more durability to an already good product.
Highly recommend this newer style rack.
The older single strut model did its job but later cracked in 3 (three) separate places.
Installation is still quick and simple and feels stronger too.
I have never carried more than 20 (twenty) pounds, so I am not near its load rating.
This upgraded version is a keeper.
