- Elite: When speed matters, there is no better choice. SILCA Super Secret hot melt wax bike lubricant is the fastest chain treatment available today, proven by 3rd party testing.
- Secret Formula: Our product contains world’s fastest lubricant additive, nano-scale Tungsten Di-Sulfide. NanoPlatelet WS2 has less than 1/3 the dynamic coefficient of friction of chemicals found in other bike chain lubricants on the market.
- Convenient: Our product is packaged in a stove-top boiler bag. Place the clean chain inside the bag with the unmelted wax, bring a pot of water to a boil or simmer, and put the bag in the water, allowing the wax to melt and the chain to be fully submerged in the fast wax.
- Built for Longevity: Each bag of SILCA ceramic bike lube provides years worth of waxed chains. For extended life, use our Super Secret drip bicycle chain lube to keep the waxed performance without chain removal.
- Clean: Riders have known for years that nothing repels dirt better than paraffin wax. SILCA chain wax chain lube consists of highly refined laboratory-grade paraffin, which is clean to the touch

once you figure out how to wax a chain and get the method down well this stuff is amazing and really easy to use. I have waxed 3 chains in total with this stuff and don’t see myself needing to get another bag of this stuff for a really long time.
as for how it feels on the bike once you knock off the outer layer of wax and make the chain flexible again and then ride it for about 3-4 miles it feels great for the next 100 miles or so being really smooth and not making any weird noises. though if it is your first time with a waxed chain just know that the chain will sound different then it would after a really good normal lubing and will sound a little louder; however the feel of the chain itself will be very smooth and good.
I definitely recommend this stuff and chain waxing if you are someone who rides in dry conditions or someone who has other options for when it rains since I feel that riding in dry with a waxed chain is really the only way to make it worth it overall due to the increase work needed for a waxed chain.

Great wax and easy application. The drive train is so quiet, I have to look down to make sure it’s still there. The big bonus is that the chain and cassette stay clean. Silca has great videos on how to use the product which is very helpful. I strongly recommend the Silca wax.

This bag alone is 2 worth 2 years of waxing or 20k KM on average. If you add the endurance chip it will basically double it.
Thank you Silca.

I ride a recumbent, so the chainline passes very close to my calf all the time. I’ve had “chain tatoos” (also affectionately known as “sprocket cancer”) after almost every ride. I cleaned everything thoroughly and melted in the Silca wax. Three rides and not a mark on me!
A separate observation…. it took about 20 miles of riding after waxing for the chain to fully loosen up again and quiet down. But once it loosened up the chain is very quiet.
I’m hoping the claims for chain and sprocket longevity are true. My recumbents have VERY long chains (3x longer than a standard bike chain) and my trike has a unique Shimano Capreo hub that is no longer made. The current sprockets need to last a LONG time.

The wax works pretty well. It’s pretty clean. Make sure you top it off with their liquid wax. Use their degreaser as well, since paint thinner in southern Ca is not good.

Clean chain and drivetrain thoroughly. 500km of riding on the road (dry) and the chain is still silent. Best part is that the whole drivetrain is still shiny clean with none of the disgusting gunk that builds up even with the “best” dry lubes. This bag of wax seems like it will last me several years making it more economical than any other drip lube on the market.

Using immersive wax to lubricate a chain is a lot of up front effort.
But, once you have a number of chains waxed, it gets a lot easier. I give the bike a quick clean every 200 – 300km and it takes less then five or ten minutes. Drop the chain off, give it a wash (no degreasing required), put a fresh chain back on.
When all the chains have been used, give them a quick wipe down with methylated spirits, dry them off with a micro fibre and drop them in the pot to re-wax them. Once you’ve done it a couple of times, it gets much easier and less messy. Beats degreasing any day.
Used for a couple thousand KM now with no issues and no real signs of wear to chain or components.

I’ve been using this for about 9 months now on both my road bike and our tandem. I ride only in dry conditions and mostly on pavement. On the first application, I recorded about 500 miles on the road bike and 350 miles on the tandem before the chain started to make a little noise, indicating the need for rewaxing. The bikes stay clean and I don’t have to worry about getting grease on myself when loading and unloading them from the car or when fixing a flat tire. Rewaxing is very easy. I just wash the chain off with hot water, let it dry, then dip it in the wax pot. My wax pot is a small electric kettle from a second hand store. It’s designed to boil water so heats up a lot faster than a crock pot but has to be monitored to be sure it doesn’t overheat the wax. This is by far the easiest, cleanest, and longest lasting chain lube method I’ve ever used. The hardest part is degreasing the chain prior to the first waxing. After that, it’s dead easy to reapply wax, it lasts for many miles, and there’s no greasy mess on the chain and sprockets. I’m not going back to regular chain lube.
