  • HALO WAX chain lubricant is engineered to dramatically improve drivetrain performance over long relubrication intervals by reducing friction and wear caused by abrasive contaminants. HALO WET chain lubricant is engineered for unparalleled drivetrain performance and long relubrication intervals in both clean/dry and wet conditions.
  • Highly Refined Paraffin is the base for HALO WAX and creates a robust, dry-to-the-touch coating that repels water, sheds friction-causing abrasive contaminants, and helps eliminate chain stains.
  • Gas-to-liquid (GTL) is the base for HALO WET. This hydrodynamic fluid film is synthesized from natural gas. Its unique molecular structure minimizes drivetrain noise, dramatically reduces friction, repels water, and maintains viscosity in extreme temperatures.
  • Spherical Tungsten features a proprietary hollow core to help reduce vibrational friction caused by high torque pedaling. Micron-size and spherical shape helps reduce sliding friction by creating a rolling effect on the surface of the chain.
  • Ceramic Boron Nitride platelets cover the chain to form a protective non-stick coating. This ceramic coating works synergistically with spherical tungsten to substantially reduce wear and help extend the life of drivetrain components.

I’m not an expert on bikes or bike chains. I just wanted a good lubricant for the chains on our electric bikes. We live near Denver where it’s very dry and dusty. This is a good brand so I felt confident choosing it. It’s easy to apply and it works fine.

I use the wax on my mountain bike and the wet on my road bike. I appreciate that this kit includes both.

Finish line has long made good lubricant products and this is another in that line. The wax does a good job shedding dirt and my chain has stayed clean despite a fair amount of abuse. I have not had issues with the coating washing off with short river crossings, after ride washes, or on muddy rides.

I am most impressed by the applicator. Having used different chain lubes for many years, I am very experienced with the mess that a standard lubricant drip bottle can make. With this, all you do is put the sponge tip along the chain and turn the bottle upside down. The applicator then applies a constant amount along the top and sides of the chain and there is no drip or mess left over afterwards. I was initially concerned this would lead to inconsistent application but found that afterwards the chain was very uniformly coated and my hands stayed clean

I honestly don’t know much about bike lubes but I do know that this is easy to use and kept my hands clean. I got this to maintain my kids’ bikes so as long as they keep moving I’m happy!

Review note: I have not used the Wet, just dry at this point but assume similar results.

Nice kit. Complete with dry and wet. Application is very simple and easy with a basic foam cradle applicator with the bottle turned upside down and applied. It’s quite easy and effective. Also very clean in placing on the chain vs all over the place. Quality is exceptionally nice once applied and dried. Really a noticeable slick to the chain. Really like it. Going to drop the wet on my Stormchaser single speed and glide through the muck! check back soon but initial impressions is this delivers and brings a slick effect.

The pack includes both a “wet” oil lube, and a “dry” wax lube. I run a waxed chain on my mountain bike, which I cleaned without removing from the bike with a tea kettle of boiled water (the chain had been fully stripped before its original waxing). Once it was completely dry, I shook the lube container and opened the valve and inverted it on top of the chain and turned the pedal. There is a sponge applicator that covers the top and sides of the chain. I found it a bit hard to gauge how much lubricant was being applied, and think I probably used more than necessary. The “wet” lube on my road bike also started by thoroughly cleaning the chain (I used Muc Off drivetrain cleaner). Again I think I got carried away with how much I applied. Both bikes had an overnight before wiping down the excess and riding. This is a quality lubricant similar to the Silca lubes I usually use. With the Silca products I apply a single drop to each roller which is slow but wastes less lubricant. The Halo applicator system is really easy and the caps contain spare applicator sponges. I expect that, with experience, I would quickly learn to adjust how much lube I left on the chain. Excellent product with an applicator I need to get used to.

This lube is best used in between hot wax baths. I also have the other Halo products, including the one with the applicator. I use this before long rides or a couple of times a week to keep my chain shifting smoothly without the nasty, oily mess of oil-based lubes. If you get the whole system it will set you back about the price of a top-end chain, but it should keep that chain going for a long time if you stay on top of the lubing. I’m actually not quite sure what the difference is between this one and the other Halo products, so I’ll have to experiment a bit longer to see if these fluids are worth the high price of entry. The other products are cheaper, but only come with one bottle.

If you’re looking for a good bike chain lube that’s easy to apply and keeps your hands clean, this kit delivers. I really appreciate the dual wet and dry options—they’re great for different riding conditions. The sponge applicator is what stands out the most. Unlike typical drip bottles that can get messy, this design applies evenly with no fuss. You just run it along the chain, and it’s done. My chain stays smooth and quiet even after rough rides, and I didn’t have to worry about extra cleanup. A bit pricey compared to others, but the quality makes up for it.

This stuff is expensive, but it works well, and the applicator makes using it much easier. I hate lubing my chain, it’s messy and a pain, but the applicator on this actually makes it much easier. Not perfect, but it’s clever, and I’m happy with it. The quality of the lubricant is also high. All in all, very pleased. Seems to last and work well.
