I’m here because I’m using it to clean the lead screws on my Bambu X1C printers. I purchased the 3 pack for around $17 which after this post I believe that was a steal. Works great! Better than anything else on the market. Sales I’m sure blew up due to the viral video. The ease of using this product is mind blow something that was marketed for bikes is now going to change with the growing community of 3D printing.

I can just imagine a shoe lace manufacturer looking at a bad lot of shoe laces. “They’re too short and loose, no-one will buy these. What are we going to do?” (for some reason they have an Italian accent in my head).
“I know, we’ll sell them to cyclists to clean their cassettes”

So that’s what they did and this is the best way to clean a cassette without removing it. Seriously, I know they were carefully designed for their purpose.
You could probably clean them and reuse them but I’m not sure it’s worth it. One of them can clean a cassette especially as I have a bucket of hot soapy water with me because I’m cleaning my bike. Get it wet and soapy and the grime comes right off. Rinse it every few sprockets.
One other nice thing is that, unlike a brush, they don’t spray greasy water all over the place. You can use them indoors without fouling the floor and walls and other parts of the bike. I totally recommend them.

This product has made the cleaning of my 3D Printer Z Rods much easier and more thorogh. It gets right into the smallest of threads and cleans out all debris and grease. I probably wouldn’t try to clean them but the box says it should be possible.

This Finish Line Gear Floss has become my go-to tool for cleaning those hard-to-reach places. I originally bought it for my 3D printer, and it does an absolutely amazing job of removing any dust or debris that accumulates on the Z-rods. I just wrap the floss around the rod and slide it up and down a few times, and it comes out perfectly clean. Convenient, inexpensive assist for cleaning bicycle cassette (gears).
This is for cleaning grit between gears and on gear faces. This is not for very heavy dirt, as a mountain bike in mud may get, where you’d likely want to first do a preliminary wash down.
Using it dry I did not have a good time as it tended to stick too easily.
I spray some WD40 onto the floss and find it helps clean better, picks up better, and also allows it to slid in between the gears better.
When cassette stationary, I’ll slide the floss repeatedly back and forth to clean areas of the gears.
With the slight pulling motion, I can get the cassette to ‘roll’ or index on certain pulls, so that your cleaning various areas around the full 360 degree rotation.
A single floss will clean the full cassette – provided that you consistently clean between rides and prewash heavy dirt first.
I also carry one in my bag on rides, in the event I need to clean ‘on the go’.
