BIKEHAND Dummy Hub Bicycle Bike Easy Chain Keeper Tool Holder Frame Protector – Quick Release Or MTB 12mm Thru Through Axle
$14.98

If you seek a dummy hub for your standard quick-release bikes or your thru-axle rigs the BikeHand Dummy Hub is a great additional to your tool kit. Could the dummy hub delrin/plastic wheel have tighter tolerances, sure, but for the price I have essentially ordered two of these for the price of one Park Tool equivalent. I would recommend for those on a budget and those not on a budget that don’t want to over spend on a piece of plastic from other manufacturers.

While servicing the gears and wheels of my vintage 27″ road bike I quickly realized I needed something to keep the chain from dangling and bashing the frame when the rear wheel was off. This dummy hub pops into place quickly and easily and lets me clean and lubricate the chain as well.
Does the job well and doesn’t break the bank.

I have a “through axle” and this works perfectly. Very handy little gadget.

Very handy to use when pulling the wheel for cleaning. Hardest part is fighting the bike to get the wheel on/off (nothing to do with this product of course). Once installed, chain and overall jike cleaning is a breeze.

This chain keeper arrived quickly, with no instructions how to use but seems pretty straightforward (and was); remove rear wheel and insert the chain over the nylon roller and lock it in using the quick release lever on the unit. I always remove my wheel with the chain on the smallest ring, but once the chain keeper is installed you need to move it up 2 or 3 gears to a larger ring to keep the unit centred on the nylon roller and running straight. It works exactly as I expected and should make on-the-bike lubing much cleaner and easier, keeping excess oil off my gear cluster.

Definitely worth it. It showed up on time and straight out tr package it was read to install. It works just like a regular quick release and should work with nearly all bikes. The one pictured has disc brakes and a thru axle and it was very easy to install, one thing to remember is shift into one of the larger cogs in the rear so that the tool can move further from the frame.
All in all, pick it up.

I never new this existed until I was watching an old Chris Horner video and saw one. I did not expect it to work on my thru axle for some reason. Hey! It works on both my rim brake bike and my disc brake bike and makes washing and servicing way easier for me. Not much to go wrong and pretty well made plus great price. I like it.

For the money, this is a great value for a chain keeper, at least for a casual user like me (I can’t attest to how durable it would be for frequent use as I’ve only had it for a few days). I like that it uses a similar design to the more expensive Park Tool chain keeper in that it allows for use on both thru-axle and regular axles, and allows movement of the dummy hub along the axle when changing gears (useful when working in lubricant to the derailleur).

Only used it once so far and it does work as intended. I haven’t tried it on the cross bike with thru axles yet. It’s pretty straight forward in how it mounts and certainly helps out when cleaning the bike.

I bought this to transport my bike on a long trip. Took both wheels off and laid the bike on it’s side in the back of our SUV. This “chain keeper” kept the chain in place nicely.

Just to clarify for everyone, this works well with my 12mm thru axle on my YT Jeffsy. You just take the main plastic pulley off and put it on your existing axle. You can then put it back on the skewer to work with any quick release frame. Couple bucks cheaper than the Park Tool version and seems of similar/better quality.
