I got this to rehab my knee after a meniscus tear. The instruction manual isn’t very useful (in fact, the photos are backward) and the link to the video didn’t work, but there aren’t that many parts so I figured I could wing it. I didn’t notice that there is a little cylinder with a notch that fits the knob on the bottom to position the mechanism up against the wheel of the bike. The cylinder was turned so that the notch was facing the wrong way and I couldn’t get the mechanism close enough to the wheel of the bike. I contacted the company and Pearl was extremely responsive–I sent a photo and they were able to quickly see my error. I have been using this now for several months and it works just fine. It is noisy with mountain bike tires but really not that bad–just turn the volume on the music up a little and it’s fine. I do not use the knob to adjust the resistance of the mechanism, though; I just set it on a happy medium and change gears on the bike, which is a lot easier.

This is a very sturdy stand for converting your outdoor bike into a stationary bike. It is pretty quiet, but only if you have street tires. I tried it with my mountain bike tires and it was noisy enough to scare my cats. Once I switched the tire to a low tread option, it was quiet enough that I could watch TV at a normal volume and the kitties weren’t running away. The problem is, now I have to switch out my tires when I want to ride outside again. The resistance adjuster doesn’t change much, but combined with changing bike gears, you can get a solid workout using this. I’d recommend for anyone who is has a street bike, or if you have a mountain bike, be prepared to swap tires often.

Pros
– Holds my bike (Specialized Mountain Bike)
– Setup straight forward
Cons
– LOUD, LOUD, LOUD. Cannot stress enough how loud this is. I have owned a few trainers in this price range and this is the worst as far as noise is concerned.
– Inconsistent Resistance. This thing is HORRIBLE with respect to providing a smooth ride NO MATTER how you configure the tension or what level you have it on. In order to get the smoothest ride, I had to set the trainer level to its lowest and find a sweet spot for tension on the rear tire to make this even usable. If with hours of trying to dial this in, it is not a smooth ride. Only trainer I have ever used where I have had this issue.
– The roller has a bit too much wobble, to help with this YOU MUST center your tire EXACTLY in the middle in order to avoid it.
OTHER NOTES
– Had to use their skewer adaptor on my bike. Required a bit more installation. Not a pro/con more of something to consider.

I did read a number of reviews about bike stands. I choose this one, some were more expensive, as it seemed most reviews said it was quiet. Yes, it is very quit. The only thing I hear is the chain on the gears on my bike. I am using narrow, fairly slick street tires. It is easy to assemble, and easy to set the bike on the stand. I like the two methods of pressure adjustment; one that affixes to handlebars and has a cable to the magnetic flywheel and the other one with the little adjustment directly on the magnetic flywheel. And of course I can further adjust pressure with the bike gears. It’s very sturdy when I’m on my bike, I’m 6’1″ about 195lbs.. It folds up and is easily stored. And it’s a great color, red. It is well worth the price.

I have been working from home for a couple of months and this has been a great solution for me to exercise while at home. I do not have to go away from my work to exercise and it keeps me away from people helping my social distancing. it saved me thousands on buying an indoor bike when I have a great bike that is custom built for me. it is very quiet and I get good workouts out of it. 40 minutes every other day keeps me active and controls weight gain. in the warmer days coming I can easily take it off the trainer and use it as a regular bike. it was a great buy. it is going to become handy in the winter as well when I cannot go out and bike. great buy and super easy to set up. it is basically pre assembled. it folds flat so it fits under the bed out of the way when not in use. the only thing I replaced was the central pin on the back wheel. the rest of the bike required very little assembly with a screwdriver. I set it up in ten minutes. not complicated at all and I am super pleased with the quality.

I received my bike trainer today. Very easy to assemble and sturdy. This model is said to be quiet noise reduction.
When I got on to ride, it was extremely noisy…Is there a reason why? Did I not set it up correctly or am I missing something? I really like it but if it’s suppose to be quiet noise reduction and it’s not, I’d really like to know why.
Thanks

I got this for my son and his wife who are both fitness fanatics. They absolutely love it. Apparently it’s easy to put their bikes on it and it runs very well, they usually put it in the garden on a summer’s day rather than having it indoors.

My wife has a cruiser with 26” wheels and I have a mountain bike with 29” wheels. This fits both very easily! However, the mountain bike makes a lot of noise due to the flak jacket on it (same as on the road).
The difficulty settings are so easy to change and are instantaneous! I am able to do my winter rides now without coming home feeling like I have to cool off and defrost at the same time.
My only complaint is that the tensioner seems to loosen up after each ride and I have to remember to tighten before each ride. It came off once while I was riding, and thankfully I didn’t fall.
All in all, this is a quality product!

Having retired, I no longer cycle to work and have been lapse at getting out. Decided this waas the answer, as I can still use my trusty old bike and get the exercise I need. Simple to put together and after replacing the quick releasae skewer from mine to the one provided, my bike was connected in minutes. Adjustable tension, means you can really get a range of workouts for a gentle pedal to very strenuous. If I want my bike to go out on (when the weather improves!), it will simply mean undoing each side by hand and riding off. As the bike does get raised by a few inches, I have to mount it using the pedal, but it is really stable on my garage floor. Comes with a mobile phone holder, which comes in handy as I use this for timing myself and listening to music via bluetooth headphones.

This Turbo Trainer is an excellent product, a quality piece of equipment. It arrived within a few days of ordering and was in perfect condition. The set up was quick and it works well and has turned a cycle into an exercise machine.
