This is a simple and affordable solution to mounting a phone on your bike. Makes a well-centered position for running google maps or alltrails apps without taking up space on the handlebars. The stem cap is an underutilized place to mount accessories and, surprisingly, there aren’t more stem cap related products out there. Perfect spot for a camera gimbal!

Anyway, this is a good location for a mount, it’s easy to install or adjust if you have a multitool, and the phone mounts easily and securely. I don’t worry at all about losing my phone when it’s strapped into this mount.

Great design, but it isn’t really for full size phones w/ a case. one of the rubber holders broke the first day. it was just overstretched.

I was hesitant to buy this product after reading other reviews, but wanted a holder mounted on my stem to cut down on items cluttering my handlebar and figured it was worth the cost to try it out. Other reviews had pointed out that the holder had disconnected due to the singe screw in the plate wiggling loose, so I figured I’d preempt that happening and removed the screw, added a thread around the screw and put it back on. I’ve had other screws on my bike shake loose and this tactic has worked to prevent it wiggling loose. I’ve found that I love the mount and enjoy the uncluttered handlebars even more. The screw is holding tight and the construction of the rest of the mount seems solid.

This has worked well for just over a year, then the mount broke and dropped my phone.
My use has been exclusively road and no falls, hits, or other incidents. I put on just under 2000 miles.
The mount worked well. The elastic straps have held well.
Without warning, the mount failed, and dropped my phone on the road. Pictured you will see the broken mount extensions. Time to look at other options.
Another side note, the elastic straps are difficult to remove your phone while riding and need two hands to re-mount your phone. Why would I want to remove the phone while riding? Glad you asked! I’ve found there are plenty of times you may want to snap a picture as you ride :-). This mount requires stopping to remove, and then remount the phone.

I have updated my original review due to a disappointing and expensive development.
Good news: my phone never came out of the mount!
Bad news: it broke my $1,500 phone

How? Apparently, since only a small area behind the phone supports it, the silicone bands pull each corner back causing a “bow”, slowly worsened by every bump in the road (city roads only, never off-road).

First, the lower left corner stopped responding to touch (I initially blamed the phone), then the upper left corner, and ultimately, all 4 corners directly behind where the bands pull back on the phone.

Tech diagnosis: the backwards pulling “bow” distorted the digitizer/touch screen in those areas causing it to break internally.

This was NOT a large oversized or large model phone. Lessons learned. I’ll just keep my replacement phone in my pocket.

I have two sets of brake levers, so I could not mount a phone holder on my handlebars. I had another type that was inside a top-tube mounted sleeve of a small bag, but it was difficult to access the controls of the phone or see the phone. It was too far back and required taking your eyes off the road to look straight downward. This mount is exactly what I needed to resolve both issues. It does not take up space on the handlebars and it places the phone up front over the center of the handlebars for easy viewing. It also allows for easy access to the phone’s controls. I can now answer a call in speakerphone mode or adjust the volume controls while riding. Or use Siri control. None of which I could do with the top-bar mounted holder. It also has a nice low profile as seen in the side view pic without the phone attached. The blue rubber band you see in the pic, I use by sliding up over the center of the phone. I have not needed it thus far, it is just an extra precaution. If the rubber corner straps ever break, I hope I can replace just the center part with the rubber corners. So far it holds my iPhone7 very snug and tight. The corner straps have not budged even on rough bumpy roads.

I have this mount on 3 of my bikes and have been using them regularly for a few months. So far, no issues. I also checked the single mounting screw on all 3 and they all have thread locker pre-applied to the threads. So it seems the manufacturer has updated that.

Personally I don’t see how some of the horror stories of the mount completely breaking could happen unless the mount has taken a lot of abuse. Under normal use, I think this will hold up for a long time. I would be very careful how you store your bike because it might be easy to accidentally damage the mount if it’s hit at an odd angle. I would also regularly inspect the underside of the mount for cracks. The way this is designed, if this thing gets cracked, it’s going to fail and drop your phone. So, just be careful.

UPDATE (7/19/22): I went on a long gravel ride on my aluminum gravel bike (which has no suspension). About 10 miles into the ride, which was consistently gravel, I started to notice it was rattling. At first I thought it was coming loose at the stem due to possibly not tightening the stem cap enough, but it was starting to fail right under plastic portion (see picture). I didn’t get to fully examine it before it completely failed and my phone flung off into the ditch. Fortunately it hit soft ground and the phone is fine. I am reducing my review to 4 out of 5.

The good news: I reached out to Delta Design through their website and told them what happened and they agreed to replace it. These mounts have a LIFETIME WARRANTY! So, for those that have experienced this failure, you can likely have it replaced.

I still believe that under most conditions, you will not experience this kind of failure. I still have several of these mounts, and one is on my mountain bike, and that one hasn’t failed, even though I ride some rough terrain. Given, I do have suspension on that bike. I have it on another road bike, and no failure there either.

I used it for just short of 2 years and it seems to be fine, but today on my weekly road bike ride, the arms sheared in two and my phone went flying into the street. Luckily I had a case so the phone still works, but the glass back in the phone is cracked now. I liked this mount, but it needs to not just break due to normal road vibration. See my pictures. Mind you, I did not crash or anything the metal sheared and my phone was in the gutter, still attached to the mount.
