This is the perfect vlogging and travel camera. It produces great quality audio and video without having to fiddle with any settings, it is durable and impact resistant, and it is waterproof so you can whip it out in the rain or at the beach without worrying about anything. The battery life is actually really impressive sometimes lasting up to two hours, and this thing fits right into your pocket which is so convenient when on the go. I am impressed, this is quite possibly the best action camera on the market.

In the world of adventure videography, the competition is fierce, especially among top contenders like the GoPro Hero 12 Black and the Insta360 Ace Pro. However, after extensive testing and comparison, the DJI Osmo Action 4 has emerged as my favorite, surpassing its rivals in key areas that matter most to me: video quality, thermal management, and overall value.

When it comes to video quality, the Osmo Action 4 shines brightest. Its footage is crystal clear and rich in color and detail, outperforming the GoPro Hero 12 Black. Whether I’m capturing a sunrise over a mountain peak or the intricate patterns of a rushing river, the Osmo Action 4 delivers superior visual clarity that brings my adventures to life in a way that the GoPro can’t match.

Thermal performance is another area where the Osmo Action 4 excels. Unlike the GoPro Hero 12 Black, which has struggled with overheating during extended use in my experience, the Osmo Action 4 remains cool under pressure. This reliable thermal management ensures that I can keep recording without interruption, a critical factor when capturing once-in-a-lifetime moments.

While the Insta360 Ace Pro is a formidable contender with its innovative features and impressive capabilities, its higher price point makes it less appealing than the DJI Osmo Action 4. For adventurers who, like me, demand top-notch performance without breaking the bank, the Osmo Action 4 presents a more balanced package of quality, durability, and affordability.

The dual-screen design of the Osmo Action 4 is a feature that particularly stands out, offering convenience and flexibility that neither the GoPro nor the Insta360 Ace Pro can match. Being able to frame shots from any angle without additional equipment easily is a boon for solo adventurers.

In conclusion, while the GoPro Hero 12 Black and the Insta360 Ace Pro have their strengths, the DJI Osmo Action 4 ultimately provides the best video quality, thermal performance, and value for money. It’s a robust, reliable action camera that has become indispensable to my adventure gear, empowering me to capture and share my experiences with unparalleled clarity and ease.

TL;DR: After comparing the DJI Osmo Action 4 with the GoPro Hero 12 Black and the Insta360 Ace Pro, the Osmo Action 4 is the superior choice for adventure videography. It offers unmatched video quality and thermal performance without the high price tag of the Ace Pro, making it the go-to camera for capturing high-quality, uninterrupted footage of all my explorations.

Even though the Osmo Action 5 is out, I chose to purchase this previous release on a sale. I am not disappointed. I had been studying these for some time, and knew this would be a good move. It was.

    My main use cases are:

    – live recording for music gigs
    – creative blogging
    – web streaming (though I have other cameras for that)

Let’s be clear – I have owned GoPros like the Hero Session 5 and the Hero 8 for many years. I’ve gigged with them, used them on vacation, and done some paid projects with them. I always struggled with the poor start up time, extremely poor battery performance, and other user interface issues on both of those GoPro models. Battery life is the main issue – with batteries running down while inside the camera while it’s off. Almost every time I try to use the Hero 8, I need to immediately replace to battery, even if the battery was fully charged when I put the unit away. I finally broke down and started using a USB power pack, but that gets clunky and isn’t always practical. Another big hassle was the Hero 8 web cam capability, which never worked properly on any OS that I tried, even after numerous firmware updates. Since they are now on Hero 13, there’s no point beating that dead horse.

I also attempted to cheap out with an AKASO EK7000, knowing it would probably suck. Honestly, it’s not a bad camera for capturing squirrel videos on my porch. I love the remote that came with it. But the AKASO is not road-ready for gigs. The construction is cheap, the battery is hard to get to, and the batteries suffer from the same quick drain as the GoPro batteries.

Which brings me back to the DJI Action 4. It’s freaking is amazing. The immediate reaction in terms of user experience is joy.

I took the DJI on a gig right away, and had no problem getting it to perform up to my expectations. Startup time is great. Battery life is amazing. The dual screen (front/back) really changes how you use a camera like this. The touch interface is a much smoother experience than GoPro. The magnetic mount is very nice too, and much less hassle (though I still use the GoPro connector on occasion). It’s time to move to magnetic mounts.

The *only* downside here is that Osmo still does not allow *clean* HDMI. Or so I hear. I have not tested this yet, but I imagine the web resources are correct on this.

I can deal with that for now. I hear that the Action 5 is even better…. if that’s true. WOW. You can even see GoPro now copying DJI with their magnetic mounts. GoPro knows they need to improve, or just get out of the way.

This is my first DJI purchase, and they knocked it out of the park. Waiting for the Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Combo to go on sale, but I may not bother to wait. I am ready to leave GoPro behind. You should too.

La he probado bajo el agua y no he tenido problemas.
