I was concerned that this bike stand would be lightweight because it’s portable, and would make the bike unstable, but I’ve wanted to try one of these for a while and thought I should give it a shot. It is decent construction and not light (so not super portable, although you can move it around), and enables me to use my road bike as a stationary bike now that the season is changing.

This trainer is an excellent investment for anyone looking to maintain their fitness routine year-round.

I appreciated how foldable it is, making storage a breeze. The fluid resistance provides a smooth ride that closely mimics outdoor cycling, eliminating the dreaded excuses for not working out indoors.

Being a fluid trainer, it doesn’t feel all that realistic. Resistance is a bit lacking if you really want to put the watts down. That’s just how these types of trainer are, but this one built well and easy to set up.

I did have to warranty the first unit due to a manufacturing defect. I’m not too put out by that; things happen sometimes. The small rotating barrel the adjustment knob screws into somehow had reverse threads. It took a couple messages, understandable because it’s such a strange issue, but they sent a replacement unit out for no charge.

A replacement quick release skewer is included, but you may not need to use it depending on your bike. If yours is all metal and has an enclosed locking cam, you should be fine. These are the only quality issues I noted on the entire product; the skewers included with both the original and replacement trainers were slightly bent. Not enough that they caused problems, but you could definitely feel it when sliding it through my bike’s axle. It’s long and has enough threads that it should fit just about any QR bicycle. A separate accessory is needed for thru-axle bikes. You’re probably out of luck if you have an old/cheap bike with solid axles and no QR.

Some trial and error is required to adjust the clamp on the trainer, but only needs to be done once for your bicycle. It would definitely be annoying if swapping multiple bicycles onto the same trainer, though.

One thing of note, your wheels cannot be out of round AT ALL for them to properly function on this trainer. If they’re even slightly bent, you’ll get binding or varying resistance.

When folded, the trainer isn’t as compact as some others and likes to fall over when leaned against a wall. It does much better if you slide it underneath something, like a bed.

So, overall, it’s a pretty decent fluid trainer for the price. There are a couple of small things to complain about, but nothing major. I appreciate how quickly Sportneer was able to resolve the strange manufacturing defect. If you’re in the market for a fluid trainer, this is a very nicely priced and quality option.

Grabbed this for my 4’10” daughter’s road bike with 650C wheels since it says it works on 26″ wheels
The adjustment screw is just barely too short to work with her bike – easy fix to pull the bolt and grab a longer one from the hardware store.

Put my 700C bike on it and put it through a workout – I’m a little out of shape so I couldn’t really beat it to hell but I did a couple of 400+ watt sprints with no issues and it felt fine at a steady 150-200 watts
Resistance was nice and progressive with no pulsing or weirdness like a magnetic trainer – AND it is nice and quiet. A lot quieter than my Tacx Flow in the sprints.

Definitely an awesome price if you want to get into Zwift on the cheap – grab this trainer and a speed sensor to get racing.

    INITIAL IMPRESSIONS:
This trainer definitely holds its own against the competition, but comes in at a much lower price point! It looks great and is easy to use. Good resistance.

    SETUP:
Unboxing was a breeze. There was only one bolt to install (holds the resistance/roller assembly to the frame). There’s an adjustment screw for the roller angle, which inserts easily. Last, the adjustment for axle width was super easy, and I had my bike on it in about 5 minutes total (unbox, assemble, and adjust).

    QUALITY:
Looks and feels awesome! The paint is smooth and the feet have rubber pads to minimize slippage and noise. The action is smooth and quiet. The front wheel block is very sturdy but compact. The clamp is easy to use and holds strongly. The flywheel is heavy but smooth. Gives a great feel and quite action with no unwanted vibration.

    SOUND:
Much, much quieter than my “fan-blade” style trainer. Gives sort of a whir/whine when you get some speed going. It’s not too high or too loud. Easily have conversations right next to it.

    RESISTANCE:
The million dollar question is whether it does the job. Yes! It’s very easy to pedal in low gears, so you can get some light cardio, warm-up, or recovery time. Or you can go to your highest gear and feel a better workout. It is comparable to riding on a very slight uphill. This is not a high-resistance trainer (like a spin bike).

    SIZE:
Compares well to other trainers. Folds very flat, though the resistance/roller assembly does hang off the side somewhat, as with any trainer.

    ADJUSTABILITY:
The feet have settings 1-5, which adjust the height slightly. About 2mm per adjustment, by my estimate. The front block does not adjust or have additional slots/heights. The roller adjustment will work with different thickness of tires, and has about 2 inches of thread on the screw. I ran a 700×25 road tire on it.

    FAVORITE THINGS:
I love the smooth feel and quiet operation.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the easy-install lever. Putting a bike in or out takes 5 seconds.
I like the strong rubber feet.
I like the leg design and folding action. No straps to adjust. Just flawless simplicity.

    WISH LIST:
I wish there was a way to increase the resistance. At the max it’s about 30% effort. Great for moderate workouts, but not a strain for intense sessions.

    RECOMMENDATION:
It’s a great trainer at a significant savings from the other name brands. I’ll definitely use it a lot this winter. I highly recommend for any skill level. It’s very accessible for beginners!
