I recently decided to change from a bulky pannier rack & bags combination to something a bit less cumbersome.

After doing quite a lot of research, I decided to purchase this particular bag (4L) from Rhinowalk.

My first impression was how easy it was to install. It took me less than 5 minutes to secure the straps, adjust the bag into a good position and tighten it down securely.
It’s definitely not going anywhere. I’m sure it’s rigid front portion (nearest the saddle post) has something to do with that.

It’s constructed of robust materials and for the price (other, similar bags were over $70) it’s certainly of better quality than I had expected.

As for it’s capacity: I was able to fit the necessary tools, spare tube (700/32c), rain jacket, hammock tent, light toiletries and a spare change of clothing (shirt, shorts, socks & boxers) into it. Easily 2 days worth of essentials. i also was able to strap my sleeping bag, mat and helmet to the top of it once it was fully loaded.
Granted I’ve been packing for bike tours a long time, so there’s a bit of packing hacks that go into it.

My first ride with it went brilliantly. It stayed completely secure and unlike the pannier bags, I forgot it was even back there until I realised I was going faster with less effort. And an exponentially more comfortable ride too.
Not having those panniers hanging over the side, creating drag and weight certainly made a huge difference.

Final thoughts: I highly recommend this bag to anyone who needs a cost effective upgrade from bulky bags.
They also come in 10L & 13L sizes should you want to pack more than just a couple day’s worth. I’ve already ordered a 13L for rides lasting more than a week.
I haven’t tested it’s waterproof capabilities yet, but I have read several other reviews that confirm it’s ability to keep your gear dry in wet conditions.

I purchased this bag on a recommendation from a friend. I use it for self-supported rides of 150 + miles. I have not yet started doing brevets, but I can see myself using this bag for 300. 400 and 600km rides. I usually use another brand for panniers. This material is a little thicker to roll, but after the first two times, it’s easy to roll and clamp shut. I’ve only had it for about a month, but I can see it lasting a long time.
