I got this bike roller because I enjoy riding my bike, but due to the weather I don’t always want to go outside. I knew going in that it would be difficult to balance, but after a day of trying I was able to get on with no issues most of the time. The issue I did not expect was how difficult it was to keep pedaling. Riding on rollers can feel like you’re going uphill the entire time because of the lack of momentum. So in one sense it does provide a challenging workout, but it has also been difficult for me to keep riding longer than a few minutes at a time. It is very sturdy though and very easy to store and assemble.

The rollers look nice and are well engineered. Now my problem begins…
Nowhere on the Amazon website do I find any information that says these rollers have a limit on the max length of the wheelbase of the bicycle. My bike has a 45″ wheelbase. There is even an “answered question” on the Amazon website that says the product works with a 45″ wheelbase w/ 29″ wheels (which is approx 1145mm).
When assembling the rollers, the instructions state that the max wheelbase is 1100mm. (See photo) That is 45mm less than my wheelbase. Setting my bike on the rollers, I calculate that the centerline of my bike’s front wheel extends past the centerline of the front roller by approx 30mm. Is this safe?
The dynamic moment of my front wheel will be to roll forward off the rollers. The instructions are clear. The Amazon website is not. See photo.

This was supposed to be brand new. Opened the box and first thing I saw was the packaging was already ripped. Started taking out the pieces and everything is covered in Styrofoam bits. No instruction manual. Considered letting it slide, but them realized I can’t even use it since the belt has been stretched and I need a replacement 😑 very disappointment, I will be returning

Can’t complain about Dutch engineering! These are awesome rollers, and the rocker design is ingenious. It took me about 3 minutes in the door way to figure these out, and then after that I was good to go on the open floor. One thing to note is that given these have no resistance variability, they feel less resistant than the actual road. Consequently, my average mph on these for an hour spin is about 24-25 mph. That’s in my upper crank ring, and in the third to the smallest cassette ring. On the road it is 20-21 mph on about one cassette ring bigger. So be careful not to get a false sense of accomplishment, because when you get on the road you may not be as fast.

I go these so I could continue to exercise during the winter when it was simply too dark / icy / cold to cycle outside. They do take a bit of getting used to and the thought of clipping in and ‘free’ cycling at first seems like madness.
But persevere – you WILL ‘get it’ and be able to cycle normally. You’ll also sweat a lot – which means you are at least burning calories. Check the bolts when you install the rollers. They should very easily engage and grip the threads; if they don’t – send it back. Variable roller threads seems to be an issue that some of us have had. I had it on a set (bought from another site) and subsequently found that others had the same issue. Hopefully it’s a limited issue and resolved now.
Some tips for beginners.
– Use it in a door frame (until you’re really confident) – that way – when you come off or wobble (and you will) you have something to grab hold of
– Focus on a spot on the floor about 1 metre ahead of your front wheel. Don’t look at your wheel
– Start in a mid-gear. Don’t use the higher gears
– Don’t actively steer – just hold the handle bars and let the front wheel naturally align
– If you start to wobble – pedal harder ! Power = stability
– Use an Amazon Echo or Dot to set timers. It’s much easier to set timers and find out how much you have left with a voice-activated device.

Update After Six Weeks Of Daily Use January 2021:
This has been a great purchase for me. At first it took me about 15 minutes to be able to ride with both hands on the handlebars. Initially I was riding 15 minutes twice a day and now closer to 20 minutes twice a day. I ride with a table to my left and for the first week I would have to reach for the table a couple times each session to maintain my balance. Just place my hand on the table to gently regain balance and directional control.
After a couple weeks I could do the whole 15 minutes in 2nd gear (3 speed bike) without loosing balance and reaching for the table. Took about another week to reliably master 1st gear. The lower gears require a greater sense of balance but with time and practice you develop this.
Now after six weeks I can reliably stand up and sprint multiple times during each session while shifting through the gears. I’m really surprised how much this has improved my cadence and ability to balance.
Initial Review November 2020:
I’m 62 years old and purchased a 3 speed Priority Classic bicycle with carbon fiber belt drive and internal rear hub gear set. This bike is not compatible with standard bike trainer stands. Watched numerous YouTube videos on the Tacx Galaxia and was a little concerned about hurting myself.
Truth is you really don’t fall off the Galaxia unless you go into total panic mode. In the beginning you will unintentionally steer the front wheel off the front roller. If you simply stop peddling everything stops immediately. Since there is no forward motion (the bike remains stationary as you peddle) there is no forward momentum to throw you to the ground.
I set the Glaxia up parallel to a work bench in my garage. Very easy to get started by simply placing one hand on the bench and start peddling. As the videos indicate, the initial tendency is to simply over-steer and veer off to one side or the other. Takes some time to develop a more delicate muscle control for steering (only very small steering inputs required). If you give it a few days your Fine Muscle Control, Cadence and Balance will all improve dramatically.
I’m a casual bicyclist but with a modest amount of effort and practice I’m really enjoying the Glaxia. In the beginning it requires a lot of mental focus but the longer you ride the more natural it becomes. In the beginning you tend to be tense which wears you out and limits the length of your rides. As you get more relaxed ride times are extended by quite a bit. When you are focused on riding, the time seems to go by quickly.
The Glaxia does provide a good workout. I’m in second gear most of the time on my 3 speed. Since there is no coasting, there is no resting. You have to pedal constantly to maintain balance. I have started to ride standing on the pedals in 3rd gear (sprinting). This is after only 4 days. I can go down into 1st for a bit of a rest but a bit more difficult to maintain balance. My balance in 1st gear is improving with practice.
The Glaxia sits on Rockers compared to the base unit without Rockers. I was concerned the rockers might make it more difficult but not the case. The rockers seem to smooth out any jerkiness the rider may have during the learning process.
The Glaxia came extremely well packaged. The three rollers are identical with quality sealed bearings. The entire unit is well engineered, extremely simple, compact, easy to assemble and manufactured with quality and precision. Should also mention the unit is relatively quiet. I’m very happy with this purchase.

This is my first set of rollers. The product is well made and functions exactly as claimed. I began using them right away and found that the process of learning how to ride on them was not all that difficult. The tapered rollers help keep your bike centered, however, with no bumpers on the sides, it is definitely possible to accidentally ride off the edge when learning. I have seen a very noticeable improvement to my pedaling technique due to using the rollers on a regular basis. They have been more of a help in that way than they have for a means of exercise. With my bike (a professional road bike) on it’s highest gear, I am able to get a pretty good workout, but the lack of resistance is very apparent. Rollers will train you to pedal correctly (in a complete circle), as an improper pedal technique (known as “squares”) will result in a loss of balance and control on the rollers. The product is easy to assemble, use and store. I am very pleased with the product at this point after using it on a daily basis for a few weeks. It appears that it will hold up and be able to endure years of use.

Got this for my hubby as a gift. He loves it. He gets his ride in but doesn’t freeze in the winter. Nice and sturdy. Note – if the rider’s bike has knobby bits meant for trail riding, it might get a bit noisy. Slightly less knobby tires makes a big difference. I’m trying it this weekend!
