The product was sent wrapped in plastic w/a shipping label applied directly, no box, no instructions. I thought I could find a PDF for the instructions on the company’s website and/or through Google. Neither my GF nor I could find it anywhere, and in fact couldn’t find the product at all on Surla’s website. But after organizing the components and referencing the product images, I managed to figure it out, and then was promptly disappointed in several ways.
Firstly, there are three different screw lengths, each of them needs a washer on either side, and the nuts are all cap nuts, meaning they will only screw on about three or four threads before hitting a rubber ring, capping it’s threading. So after a half-hour of trial and error in figuring out which screws were intended for which joints, I sorted things, but during the process, I noticed how the adjustable length rods were intended to be held in place solely by screwing tight a perpendicular screw. Note: there are no holes on the second rod so the screw is supposed to bind the rod in place. These four rods are the weak point in this flawed design, and I have low confidence they would hold much weight. Their failure would lead to a dangerous interaction with the rear wheel. No thanks. I missed the 30 day return policy, so I’m stuck with it and I’m a little salty about this product, but seriously, there is a reason this particular model was discontinued I’m now realizing.

Mounted this on the back of my fat tire e-bike to use as storage and to carry passengers (with a seat cushion of course), had to say I’m impressed. I wasn’t expecting it to be too sturdy with it being so inexpensive compared to other racks like it, however I was pleasantly surprised with the quality. It definitely holds 300lbs probably more, is very sturdy, and has a large range of adjustments that can be made to fit the bike. My bike is large, wide, and a little uniquely shaped, so I was again happily surprised when it was able to fit nicely while still having good weight support. Only slight downside is that there’s no manual to help you assemble it, but it’s pretty simple and straightforward to figure out by just looking at the pictures and replicating it. Overall excellent choice for rear rack, well above bang for your buck.

Do Not Buy!!!!!! This comes from China and comes in bunch of pieces with different hardware and NO INSTRUCTIONS!!!! I want to return it but the only way to return it is to pay yourself and ship it back to China. I should have never bought. It’s complete junk! Lost my money on this purchase and hope no other Amazon customers get trapped into wasting your money on this crap!
