I’ve had this basket for about a month now and I’m glad I went with this one. It’s not terribly big and it was a little finiky to install but it’s great for my needs. My school backpack fits into it perfectly and the bungee cord with 3 straps in one is great for securing things. I haven’t tested out the rain cover yet (not a lot of rain in the summer) but I’m sure it’ll come in handy soon since I live in an area that typically rains quite a bit in all other seasons. Overall I’m really glad I choose this basket.

We’ve had this for 1 year and it was a waste of money. I should have spent the cash on getting a separate rack and baskets.

Before my 14yo came home, got the tools, and removed the basket themselves:
-it tipped while riding uphill and the backpack almost fell out!
-the structure flexes so secured it with a padlock..held for a bit but not really
-can’t raise the seat up with the contraption on

165lb load?? Laughable and unlikely. I’d love to get my money back.

We live almost a mile from my son’s school. We just miss the school bus boundary by half a block so he doesn’t qualify for the bus. He and his friend ride their bikes to school most days. He was having trouble riding though because their backpacks are so heavy. (Pretty sure their school district chose the heaviest laptops available.) His friend has a rack on the back of his bike but his backpack isn’t super secure and has fallen off. I went searching for a basket for my son and found this one. He loves it. His backpack and lunch box fit right in, sometimes with a bit of shimmying depending on what he has that day, and then he puts the strap around the top of it to secure it in. He keeps the rain cover in the bottom of the basket in case he needs it. It installed very easy onto his bike. I only had to adjust it once, but that was due to me not securing it correctly when installing it. I am really glad I found this!

Update in just a month of use.
I got a call from my daughter telling me her backpack fell out of the basket mode of the bike rack.
I had already switched out the “snap on” clips, as these no longer would hold on to the rack, and now the “sealed” clips failed to keep her middle school backpack secure in the basket.
On top of that, the bungee strap plastic broke and I had to use a quality bungee cable to replace the old cable.
Now I have reinforced the cage mode with zip ties until I can secure the basket mode.
The metal parts seem solid and I think the basket will hold together, but I don’t believe the plastic clips will last this school season. I noticed the plastic is already getting faded from the bright orange to a duller orange.

My daughter started middle school and started to carry more books on the way and back home from school.
Needed a rear bike rack and this seemed to fit the bill.
Overall it does the job and works on her 90’s Trek mountain bike.
She has no complaints except when the plastic on the bungee cord broke.
The metal and paint seem fine and do not scratch, but the orange plastic mounts seem rather flimsy and change color when I was putting the frame together.
There are a lot of parts, but the instructions where clear to read and understand the next steps.
I replaced the bungee cord with more durable shock cord.
The cage stays in place and does not move very much despite the movable orange hinges.

It’s a pretty good quality; the only thing that didn’t work were the adjusting screws for the lower arms that attach to the bike frame. They work, but they only partially screw in; they don’t seem to be fitted or threaded quite right.

Otherwise, this is really convenient to have on my bike. The basket is somewhat flexible at the joints and allows you to fit somewhat misshapen objects in it.

The only issue I find somewhat inconvenient is that it makes a bike harder to get on. I have a 29er, so it’s a stretch to get my leg over it. But that’s not the fault of this particular product; that would happen with any basket this size.

My bike is a step through cruiser with an aluminum frame that has none of the holes that most rear bike racks rely upon. The bike shop said I was going to have trouble getting a rear bike rack onto this bike. I have panniers I don’t carry all the time but when I want them, I want them. The sides fold easily down to form the wheel protectors that panniers rely upon. For most of my bike rides for shopping, library, etc., this holds all I need. I also have a removable front basket that I carry into the grocery store but if buy only enough to fill that, I still put it inside this rear rack because it’s better for safety and steering to have the weight on the rear wheel. The bike shop is surprised how sturdy this is, and how well it’s attached. All tools are included, and keep them because you may want to tighten a bolt someday.

The manual is not very detailed, so it took a lot of trial and error to actually get this put together. Once I figured it out, I was very impressed with the sturdiness.

One of the main reasons I chose this product is that the basket folds down. However, it turns out this feature is not implemented in such a way as to be very useful. First, the latch mechanism for the basket sides is very difficult to operate. It requires a lot of force to open or close. There is also no way to secure the sides, so they flap around when down and rub on the wheel.

The quick-release mechanisms for the actual attachment to the frame somewhat mitigate the issue, since when I don’t need it I can just take it off instead. However, the side clamps are much larger than my chainstays so I had to use a lot of the pads to attach it, and they fall out during removal. I plan to 3d print something that can be permanently attached to either the clamp or the chainstay, so then I do not need to worry about losing those pads.
