This is a nice tool for consumer intermittent use. Not the quality of the more professional tools (Park, Shimano, etc) but quite good for occasional use. Not as sturdy, but works fine for the couple times I’ve used it this week so far. At half the price of the other ones that do both compression (removal) and extension (installation) of quick links, it’s a good value. It worked well and is easy to use. Definitely worth having, as it makes quick links so simple ( no struggling to remove, and easy to ensure proper install)z. I think it will hold up for years of light use.

This is by far my favorite tool from Pro Bike Tools, it has been very handy and has saved me from having to cancel rides. The quality is great though I feel a rubber handle would of been nice. As grip is a tad lacking. Though the tool does exactly what it needs to do and makes changing or installing a chain a breeze.

So easy to use. Both to remove the quick link, and then to put one back on. Simple, logical design. Worked on my 12 speed chain. Well made, comfortable on the hands, and doesn’t require super human strength to do the job. Wish I had bought it years ago. You need look no further.

I’m picky. Seriously. Way picky. I track everything. Data, data, data! I wax my chains. Seriously. Not many people do that. You know why I mention waxing chains? It’s not just because it’s the best all-around way to extend the life of your drivetrain, but because doing that means I’m separating master links all the time. You ever tried to separate those with your fingers? If you haven’t, you should try it. Sometimes it’s easy; sometimes not. You know what fixes that? This tool.
The Master Link Chain Pliers do the job admirably. It’s easy to undo and re-attach master links. Reasonably priced and…the best part? It’s black. My Park Tools get visually gross (yes, I clean them), but I worry about that a little less with black handles. If you haven’t purchased one of these, you’re missing out. Skip your Orange Mocha Frappacino for a few days and order one fo these instead. You won’t regret it.
Update 5/31/2020: I ordered the new versions of this tool, which, I must say took an already great tool to the next level. that picky thing I mentioned? Apparently my GF noted it too and wanted to start waxing her chain. OF COURSE, I had to order thew new version of the tool so she could have the old one, we we are both happy as clams at low tide. OF COURSE, she loves the ease of snapping quick links off and on and OF COURSE the new tool makes it even easier by squeezing the tool to make both actions happen. Quality stuff engineered by some good folks.

I had a small, compact link tool, that I found unable to open a used master link, due to the very short handles , not providing enough leverage. That tool was fine for closing a new master link, so it is still in my e-bike travel kit. This tool with longer handles I keep in my shade tree shop kit. Very pleased with it.

Got these as I was struggling with trail side tools to connect a tight chain together. Used these and it was effortless to connect it back together again.

This is a great value tool. You do not buy a cheaper tool expecting to exceed the name brand tools. You expect it to get the job down and at a cheaper price. Some of the reviews were really confusing. They were for a inflatable jacket for motor cycles? Not sure what was going on with that. This is a review for the 15 dollar pair of special pliers to remove bike chains with master link. Worked well on my 11 speed Giant Mountain Bike.

This is not a flimsy tool with a loose return spring, it’s a quality tool and a must have for someone like me who doesn’t have enough strength to snap a quick link in place by pulling on opposing chain segments.
