Sound:
So I bought this because of how compact it is. I have a folding bike and I don’t have that much room on the handle bar for accessories. I love the pitch of the ring, it has a polite and vibrant ring which is what I was looking for.
The thing is, no one hears it. Everyone on the bike trail I ride on has earbuds in and are completely oblivious. The few that don’t have earbuds hear it just fine, but those people also tend to be more alert and will just hear me coming anyway. No need to ding the bell. Not really much I can do about the earbuds, though, short of installing an airhorn.
On the other hand, there are a lot of squirrels where I live and the minute I ding this thing once, they all scatter. They don’t even do the run one direction and turn back like they do when they just see me coming. Once I ding the bell, they will just clear the path immediately. This is great because I’ve had times where I’ve lost control of the bike trying to swerve to avoid hitting them.
Durability:
The other thing about this is that my first one broke pretty early on. I unfolded my bike one day and I found it in pieces. Luckily, the company had accidentally sent me a 10 pack of these so I installed another one and that one has lasted years. It’s very possible that I may have broken the first one it when folding the bike. I may have accidentally jammed the bike pedal into it or something.

Update. The bell has the worst quality possible. Both bells are dead after a week of use. The same problem on both, a spring bent and they won’t sound anymore. Garbage!!!
The sound is nice and loud. The description says aluminum and not plastic. The only metal is the outer shell. Everything else is cheap plastic including the hammer. Not worth the price. Bought two for my kids. I hope they will last.

The sound is very clear and crisp. It’s different enough to stand out from other bells. I noticed on the bike paths that people I am passing pay more attention to this bell. Or at least it grabs their attention faster with one ring. Plus, the design is very sleek and definitely engineered well for its purpose.
Side note. Make sure you buy the right size. I did not pay attention and bought the wrong size at first.

It has a nice clear sound. It’s not as loud as I was expecting, but it works well. It’s a nice bell.

The Knog bell is easy to install and can fit where other bells can’t, like if you have shifters or other accessories in the way. However, the spring bent and sometimes the bell does not ring. It is also rather quiet. It looks great though, but there’s better options on the market.

this bell is everything as promised. well packaged, instructions and tool. easy to mount. bell is not the loudest but doesnt claim to be. its light and stealth. perfect for a carbon race bike. if you need something loud then go with something uglier. no problems with the striker. highly recommended and will buy another for my other bike.

It’s hidden so I like that and it’s not like the big annoying old school ones

Need idea. However, to install the bell, you have to pull it apart. The base is plastic so when you pull it apart, it tears away at the plastic so when you reinstall the aluminum portion, it does not sit right. The bell does not ring very well. So, I am constantly adjusting it to try and get a clean ringtone

I love this little bell. It’s stealthy and looks sharp! The smaller diameter fits out near the grip and if positioned properly, it’s an easy reach with your thumb. Take a look at my pic. Not the loudest bell, but plenty loud to alert someone. Good bang for the buck!

The design is absolutely brilliant. You don’t need to buy it to know that. It went on easily. It works great. As others have said, this is not a “HEY! YOU! WATCH OUT!” bell. It is a “Hello. Pardon me :)” bell. So, know that going in. Good for a quiet neighborhood or bike trail. I could understand not for the busy streets of downtown or a downhill trail where other riders have full head helmets.

This bell is dead sexy and easy to install, but wish I had gone for the Luxe version. The clapper mechanism is, well, all clapped out after just a few uses. The spring has bent away from the metal bell part on me and it’s quite difficult to get a sound out of it now. When it worked it was clear and a carries wonderfully; definitely get a Luxe version (better clapper mechanism).
