I won’t lie – I bought this because it was the cheapest electric bike i could find on Amazon that didn’t have “child” or “kids” in the description, and didn’t look like a toy. I knew everything going in, I had done my research, and this seemed like a good choice.

First – this is heavy. If you’re having it delivered and it’s not coming right to your door, bring a friend or get a vehicle to carry it home – it’s almost 100lbs. Yes, I carried it home, and no, I did not enjoy that part.

I’ll keep this short – it’s bigger than I expected, but in a good way. I really thought it was going to be like a scooter with a seat, but it’s a good size, and even at 210+ lbs, I don’t look completely comical riding it. It handles my weight perfectly fine.

This is not super fast when pedalling – it’s not slow, it’s just not fast. If you like a somewhat relaxed and mostly-carefree trip, this may be the bike for you. The only option to not use electric-assist is to turn the bike off and take the key out. From my personal experience – and maybe this is because of my weight – I didn’t really notice the assist (much) unless I was on an incline and it definitely helped with that. R

As for riding under my own power without any assistance, it was fine – it feels like a normal bike. Again, a not-terribly-fast bike, but a bike just the same. If the battery happens to die on your trip, you’re not stranded – just likely to get a bit sweatier than planned.

Using this as an electric-only bike was surprisingly fun. I feel like i got faster using the electic motor than i did with pedalling alone, and I went for a ride to get some groceries at a no-frills kind of grocery store (15km round trip) and using mostly power, I still had 3 of 4 power bars left. Recharging took under 90 minutes.

Short version : if you want something compact (because it folds) that you can store in your home, but something big enough to feel like a real bike, and your main objective is to get to work (*when they make you come in) or run errands, this is a great little bike. If you’re looking to go off-road or do the tour de france or just refuse to ignore your need for speed, maybe this isn’t quitei what you’re looking for.

Personally, I love it – and the only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars overall is because I actually have a a *slight* need for speed…but that’s what my 29″ mountain bike is for.

    Highly recommended.

I recently purchased the Gotrax EBE1 16” Folding Electric Bike, and I couldn’t be happier with my decision! This bike is a game-changer for my daily commute. With a max range of 25 miles on pedal-assist and a top speed of 15.5 mph powered by a peak 500W motor, it effortlessly gets me where I need to go.

The rear suspension provides a smooth ride, even on bumpy roads, making it comfortable for both adults and teens. The folding feature is incredibly convenient for storage and transport, especially in my small apartment. Plus, it’s lightweight and easy to carry when folded.

The build quality is excellent, and the bike feels sturdy and reliable. I love how it combines practicality with fun, giving me the freedom to enjoy my rides without worrying about traffic or parking.

Overall, the Gotrax EBE1 is an outstanding electric bike that offers great value for money. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and efficient commuting solution!

I purchased the Gotrax 16″ Folding Electric Bike with high expectations, especially with its advertised 25 km range on pure electric mode. Unfortunately, I’ve barely managed to get 5 km out of a single charge, which is far below what was promised.

To add to the frustration, I reached out to Gotrax, and they assured me they would ship a replacement battery. That was over two months ago, and despite multiple follow-ups, I have yet to receive anything or even a response. The lack of customer support is disappointing.

I even bought the Amazon product protection plan, but I am unsure how to proceed as I haven’t received any helpful guidance from the manufacturer.

If you’re looking for a reliable electric bike, this model may not meet your expectations in terms of battery life and customer service. Disappointing purchase overall.

I’ve been circling the idea of getting an E-Bike for awhile now, and I finally decided to go ahead and get one. I couldn’t be happier with the bike thus far, and here’s a few quick reasons I like it:

    – The bike is mostly assembled upon unboxing; you have to install the seat, handle bars, and the front tire w/ fender. The front tire is the only thing that took me any amount of time, but once I got it locked in there it was secure.
    – Quick charge for first use, after assembly I plugged it in and within roughly 20-30 minutes the light went green.
    – The user interface for the bike itself is simple: Power button on the left handlebar control panel turns it on, a plus/minus button to increase or decrease the pedal assist, and a handy headlight button on the side. Display may look cheap in the photos, but it had a crisp display and despite its size it was good quality.
    – The ride itself couldn’t be easier; I started at 2-3 assist and I was flying down the road. It’s not a mountain bike so don’t expect to ride off curbs or over something and not feel it. It’s my only complaint, and I’m nit picking, but the suspension doesn’t do much to mitigate shock absorbing (easily remedied by buying a better seat, but it’s an additional purchase so 1 star off for comfort).

Overall, for the price and what I need it for (short trips around town) I couldn’t ask for a better ebike.

I’ve done some research, and I believe this is the best value-for-money electric bike out there. When I bought it, I was able to assemble it by myself in less than an hour. Although the assembly instructions weren’t very clear, as some of the diagrams were too large, I found that comparing them with some YouTube videos and the final product image made the process much easier. So, assembly is not an issue.

The bike is very easy to get the hang of. Here are a few of its advantages: First, the pedal assist is very quick and responsive. After just a short charge, it can run for a very long time. I charged it once, and it’s lasted over a week without needing a second charge. Second, the weight of the bike is quite manageable. Third, it’s foldable, which is convenient for carrying in my car and taking it anywhere without worrying about storage.

Overall, I highly recommend this bike. The pedal assist is especially helpful when you’re tired, allowing you to reach speeds of up to 20mph. However, I only used the third and fourth speed settings because going too fast made me a bit nervous. The timer and other features are also great. In summary, the quality of this electric bike far exceeds its current price, and I would highly recommend it to anyone considering buying an electric bike.

We love how compact these electric bikes are. Great for when we go camping. Easy to store and lock up when we are not at the camp site.

This remarkable bicycle encompasses all the essential attributes and surpasses expectations in numerous aspects. As a denizen of the bustling downtown core, this bike has revolutionized my daily commute, rendering it an absolute game changer. With a non-pedal propulsion capacity of 25km/h, it effortlessly propels me forward, and should I choose to engage in pedaling, its velocity escalates to an impressive 45km/h. Moreover, being a taller individual, the bike’s impeccable design renders it a flawless match for my stature.

The bike’s user-friendly interface, featuring conveniently located keys for activation and control, adds to its allure. Additionally, the presence of an illuminating light serves as a valuable aid during nocturnal rides, ensuring optimal visibility and safety. Furthermore, the inclusion of a horn proves invaluable, effectively warding off hazardous drivers and preemptively alerting pedestrians of my approach.

Lastly, the bike’s unparalleled foldability warrants special mention. The mere ten seconds required to swiftly fold it into a compact form grants me the unparalleled convenience of effortlessly stowing it in the rear of my hatchback, all without necessitating a separate bike rack. Undoubtedly, this feature epitomizes the bike’s most extraordinary attribute.

To summarize, this bike exceeds the realm of excellence, effortlessly fulfilling all my requirements and then some. I wholeheartedly endorse this remarkable mode of transportation to anyone residing in a downtown locale or elsewhere, as it embodies a rare combination of exceptional functionality and exhilarating recreation.

Please note: I added the silver cupholder, it does not come with the bike. The rear suspension means its definitely smooth enough to carry a timmies cup back home in the morning or ice cap.

I’ve been revving around on the Gotrax EBE1 16″ electric bike for quite a while now, and boy, are we excited to share our experiences with this versatile gem!

This bike is hefty, clocking in close to a whopping 100 lbs. But, let’s spin this positively! This weight gives the bike a sturdy feel and great stability on the road, which we absolutely love.

The magic of the Gotrax EBE1 lies in its incredible adjustability. My wife, all of 4’8″, and I, a 6’1″ guy pushing 220 lbs, can both comfortably ride this bike! That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for adjustable bike designs!

Now, the speed – this isn’t your wind-in-your-hair, adrenaline-pumping speedster, but it offers a comfortably paced ride that lets you take in the scenery and simply enjoy the ride. And the electric-assist feature, while subtle on flat terrain, is an absolute lifesaver on those pesky uphill battles.

Recently, we took our two Gotrax EBE1s on a 20 km round trip to our local beach, and guess what? We returned home with still a third of the battery left! Plus, the recharging is as speedy as it gets, only taking about 90 minutes.

And here’s the kicker – despite its size, this bike folds up so compactly that we can fit two of them in the trunk of our Smart car. Isn’t that just amazing? We adore this bike for its foldable design, making storage a breeze.

Here’s my fun take on the highs and lows of this bike:

    Hoorays: 🎉

-Versatility: It’s a chameleon, adapting to riders of various sizes.
-Battery Life: The energy endurance is absolutely commendable, paired with speedy recharge times.
-Compactness: From a robust bike to a compact carry-along, it’s convenience at its best!
-Battery Security: A lockable battery – because security never goes out of style!

    Oops: 🤔

-Need for Speed: Not for the speed junkies out there.
-Instrument Panel: We miss an odometer or speedometer for tracking.
-Add-ons: A few accessories like a rear rack or a brake light would be nice.

While our town’s hilly terrain and uneven paths might cause the battery to drain a bit faster, this bike meets the challenge head-on, making every ride an exciting adventure.

So, here it comes… our rating for the Gotrax EBE1 16″ electric bike is a whopping 5 out of 5 stars! 🌟 Despite its minor imperfections, its size adaptability, ingenious design, and the pure fun we’ve had make it an absolute winner in our book. We love it so much that we bought a second one for my wife’s shopping trips. We’re all geared up for more thrilling rides ahead with our Gotrax bikes! 🚲💨

Just got mine in. Overall, love this bike. I will update this review after a couple weeks of use.

    Pros:

Pedal assist mode is really useful. I love that. I have a throttle as well as an option to have the bike assist me. First, it was kind of hard to use, but once I figured it out, it was really, really simple. Battery life seems to be pretty long, and it came with a full charge. Pedal assist is a great job of carrying me up the hills on my campus. Brakes seem to work great so far. The folding makes it far easier to manage. It comes with all the tools necessary for assembly.

    Cons:

The assembly manual is useless. Google “gotraxs R1 assembly video” And click on the Amazon video for a real instructional video. Only takes about three minutes. The key is on the underside of the bike, which is pretty stupid. But once you turn it to where you need it, you can take the Key out. Although the folding makes it more manageable, it’s still pretty freaking heavy. Lugging it to my third floor apartment was not an option, so I put it in the trunk of my car, a small sedan, and it fit perfectly. Also, there is no suspension so you will feel every bump not a huge problem if you’re on paved roads. The headlight is also very dark, and doesn’t really light your way, But if you’re on a illuminated roadway, it allows other people to see you. Also has tail lights.

Overall, loving my initial, look at the bike and feel to it. I will update this later if it has any issues

    (UPDATE)

Hi again! the bike now has about 50 miles of usage in a relatively hilly city, mostly used on the sidewalk. Still love it! I did realize that the bracket holding my screen on was missing a screw, but I got a .20$ screw from Ace and fixed that immediately. The screen has a minor scratch on it that I only noticed under direct sunlight, but it is a nonissue IMO. Charges great. I ride this bike about 5-7 miles a day in a very hilly area, typically using PAS 3 or 4 (occasionally inching into 5) , and usually by the time I return home I have only used ~20% of the battery, which is right on par, or maybe slightly above, what is advertised. I weigh 200lbs plus about 20lbs of gear, in nearly 95F weather, and it has not had any overheating problems whatsoever. Speed is pretty good. Itll sling me at 20mph with no problem, and its only had trouble on one particular hill, which is going up at what I imagine has got to be a 20 or 25 degree angle. Gonna up the maximum speed when I get home today. To avoid lugging that thing all the way to the third floor of my apartment, I’ve started folding it up, removing the battery, and locking it in the (small) trunk of my car. The bike is very heavy to carry that high, but this works out quite nicely.

Overall, still very impressed with the bike. My friend just ordered one because I talk so highly of the thing.
