If you have an old-school 270/135mm fat bike, chances are you can’t install a tapered steer tube fork.

This deal allows you to upgrade, while using all of your existing parts, with the exception of the front hub. You will need to either relace the wheel with a through-axle hub, or replace it altogether.

I wanted to use a Manitou Mastodon fork, so I just sold the Bluto and helped pay for the Mastodon.

The Bikes Direct frames are never cutting-edge, even when brand new. But, how cutting-edge does a hardtail fat bike really need to be?

Using this as my all-rounder mtb, and I love it.

BONUS: Mine came with no decals or graphics. The stealthy flat black paint looks great.

I like this frame and it seems to be of good quality however I have not been able to assemble a bike out of this frame due to the odd sizes on rim spacing. If you are able to make your own wheels and they don’t look like a pringles chip like mine do than you have nothing to worry about. If you think you will be able to buy a wheel set for this frame fork set up or swap components from another bike be mind full of the fact that this has a 170mm rear wheel spacing and with the Bluto 15×150 thru axle you wont find a set of rims to fit unless you make your own. I have been unsuccessful at finding a rear wheel with 170mm hub in a skinny or a fat.
