Any athlete who exercises indoors on a bike or trainer knows how sweaty these intense workouts can become – many use multiple fans just to try to keep up with the sweat the body produces during long rides and intervals. Where the bike and rider move constantly through the air when outdoors, there is barely any airflow indoors to evaporate the moisture sweat out by the body. With nowhere else to go, the sweat simply runs down the rider and falls onto what’s below – sometimes covering the bike! Sweat is hard on bikes and bicycle parts, so anything that can be done to mitigate the sweat will improve the performance and longevity of the bicycle.

All of this explains what I appreciate about this sweat guard. I like that this sweat-guard does what it is supposed to do – it can be positioned to catch sweat while you exercise on an indoor bike trainer. My personal setup is a road bike mounted to a smart trainer, but the way it connects (velcro mat applied to the strap that runs from the seat-post to the stem or handlebars) means it should work for most any kind of stationary bike/smart trainer that’s out there. I’ve had a few rides at varying intensities with it and it’s held up well, protecting the bike by catching the sweat.

An additional feature I appreciate is that the main mat is washable – there’s a plastic insert you remove, and then you can wash the absorbent material before it becomes overwhelmed by the sweat. Overall, a very well designed sweat-guard.

First, let me just say that this is a great product! It is good quality, but maybe has a few design flaws. I do a lot of indoor cycling on my trainer, and in the past I have just used towels on my bike to protect it from the sweat. I was hoping this would help. I ran into a few issues using this. The system uses a ‘Y’ pattern Velcro support underneath the main sweat catcher. The top two legs of the ‘Y’ strap attach to your bars, and the lower leg of the ‘Y’ attach to your seat post (This is for a road bike example..). I have aero bars and had a hard time attaching the Velcro supports without it distorting and twisting the strap legs, because I needed them to be wider that what they were. So when I moved the straps closer together, the twisting wasn’t an issue. However, I need the sweat guard BEHIND my stem (because this is where my phone attaches). Which I could do, but by doing so, it put the seat post strap too far back. The kit comes with a few additional straps that you can put on independently (guessing for tri-bike setups?). I used these straps to try and extend the ‘Y’ strap at the front, AND widen it out, which would pull it forward. But this didn’t work either. Again, it would cover the stem and the legs of the ‘Y’ would be too far forward. I could also see that this might be an issue while pedaling as my knees would hit into it. I had issues with the seat post as well. There seems to be way too much Velcro for the seat post, and the cloth attachments would get twisted easily when trying to attach it. Again, don’t get me wrong…the product is very high quality, but may not be designed in a way that fits all bike styles. I believe if they re-engineered it slightly that it would be more diverse for all bike geometries. For instance, making ALL the ‘Y’ legs adjustable, and redesigning the seat attachment would be a start. For me the main issue came down to that ‘Y’ strap that I ended up fighting for about 10 min before giving up. Too much work to attach. Especially when I can just drape a towel over the bar and be done with it. I hope they get a newer design, because I would LOVE to install this on my bike sometime in the future.

Let me start off by saying this is a well made and solid product. I can tell a lot of thought went into making this. I can see it making a difference for a road bike that is converted for indoor use.

I got this for my peloton to help with sweat dripping on the frame, although it technically does the job, I was not a fan of the way. it attached to the frame and ended up blocking the resistance knob.

I hope they maybe design one specifically for the peloton one day but for me it was a fail.

Barely catches sweat which is closer to the crank of the peloton.

I was able to set this up in a minute. Everything attached with quality hook and loop fasteners. It does a real good job blocking the sweat from dripping on the frame. I have it on a road bike. I can take it off to rinse afterwards, just remove the hard plastic.

I never considered corrosion cause by sweat before, but it IS a real thing, and it can destroy your expensive trainer.

This accessory is super simple – you hook the front part to your handlebar, and then loop the other side to your seat stem.

There is an option to connect it to the top tube of your bike, if that’s your preference.

I’ve personally never heard/seen this being used on an actual outdoor bike, but it can be used for those bikes, too.

At under $30, I think this is a good investment, especially for indoor trainers.

This does not work for a peloton, which is why I got it. It ends up awkwardly covering part of the handle bars and doesn’t have as much coverage for the knob and the mechanism that turns the wheel to prevent sweat from hitting them and causing corrosion. This would work well for my husband’s road bike.

    Fit:

I’ve alternated having this fit to multiple road bikes, and it’s fit very well on all of them.

I’ve also had this on a Peloton, and it fits fairly well, and is quite functional.

    Adjustability:

This should work for most medium to large road bikes.

    Coverage:

Just about the same as all sweat guards.

    Durability:

    Very good

    Drying time:

This is usually dry from a session within 3-4 hours after use.

    Bottom line:

This sweat guard is essentially the same as all of the name brand sweat guards.

    Highly recommended

I have road bike with aero bars for indoor training. This sweat catcher just doesn’t fit well for my bike as it gets in the way. My legs hit the catcher as I cycle. Might be better suited to upright exercise bikes.

I have been using sweat guards on my bikes forever when indoor training. I have made some and bought others but most have been purchased. They all eventually get old and the elastic finally will wear out. This sweat guard is quite a bit wider than any I have used before. It’s also a multi piece device which is initially a bit more complicated to install but still pretty easy. The build quality and materials are of good quality too. This thing is wide, wider than any I have ever seen before which gives better coverage but also eliminates a grip placement on the bars. I move my hand position throughout my training session and with this guard in place I can’t grip the tops of the bars. Because it has a top sweat guard piece that velcrors down to the frame part I can move it farther forward. This helps some but also reduces the coverage advantage of the extended width of this.
