I got this mainly for the chain link pliers as I already have a couple of other chain breakers. But for the price, you get three pieces in this kit: pliers, breaker, and chain measurement tool. I would say this is more for your home bike mechanic workshop rather than something to carry on the bike (there are smaller versions available). The quality is very good for entry-level tools. The pliers spring is nice and strong. i like the plastic handles on the pliers and chain breaker. Also includes a chain hook (good for holding tension on the chain while you figure out the right length and install the master link). These arrived packed together in a padded plastic bag. I suggest to find a small nylon drawstring bag to keep them together in your tool bin.

This tool kit is great for basic chain repairs and maintenance. The pliers and chain breaker are especially useful if you’re fixing a chain on a bike without a derailleur, like a child’s bike. Without these tools, it’s nearly impossible to return the pin while the chain is off the cogs. And if the chain is on the cogs, the tension makes it too tight to close without help.
The tools feel sturdy enough for occasional use and do the job well. If you’re maintaining bikes at home, this set is a practical addition to your toolbox. Definitely worth it for the price!

A must have if your building your bike tool kit. I can check how stretched my chain is, when I replaced it recently it was easy to break the link on the old chain and install the master link on the new one. saved about $50 by doing it myself 🙂

I used these tools on a 9 speed Shimano chain. It was easy to use the chain pliers to remove the quick-links. This is most helpful on a dirty chain. The chain break tool did succeed in removing the pressed in connecting pin from between the links, but careful alignment is required. There are alignment guides to help that fit in the link groove, but it is not as easy as simply putting the chain in and tightening. I had to loosen and realign the chain several times before the push pin was centered over the connecting pin. Once that was done, I started tightening the turn clamp, but was unable to break the link by hand. I had to place the turn clamp in a vice, then rotate the handle. No big deal. I did not notice any damage to the links, but a misaligned chain in the tool could result in damaged links when clamped down. Most important is that these tools did the job they were meant for.

Good price for a combination of chain breaker and chain stretch gauge. I’ve never felt like I needed a chain link plier, but good to have that too. Chain breaker works, and chain wear gauge seems to indicate ok. My chains are mostly pretty new, so didn’t find one failing a wear test.
