I’ve had this bag for 4 months with light use and all the zippers have failed. Avoid buying.

I truly can’t believe that someone hasn’t come up with this idea sooner. It’s like a transformer, but in backpack form. It carries my laptop safely with plenty of room for bigger books/binders and my lunch. There’s even a sweet little pocket for easily accessible small items like my phone and house key. I was honestly really surprised at how much this bag holds, and how sturdy and well structured it is. It wears as a backpack, but then also attaches to my bike beautifully.

This Pannier Backpack is SO cute and fit perfectly on my bike! I live downtown, its crowded, and am an anxious driver so I have always been a biker but have ALWAYS hated having a backpack, it makes me feel unbalanced. This is the perfect solution!

A great product. Not hugely roomy but otherwise perfect. Easy to attach to the bike, and the Velcro is useful to put the two sides together quickly.

This is a great bag for carrying everyday. The bag slips apart and secures to a bike rack really easily. It also goes back together for wearing like a backpack. Whether I’m driving or riding into work, I can grab the same bag on my way out the door.
It has plenty of room for bike things (change of clothes, glasses, gloves, etc.) and work things (laptop, notebook, mouse, pens, ID, multitool, etc.) There are also easily accessible pockets on the bag for emptying you pants pockets quick (wallet, ID, etc.) without having to dig into the bag.
The canvas seems durable and is lined on the inside. The zippers are quality zippers and work well.
There are two things that I don’t like. 1) The buckles on the leather straps are just for style and feels cheap (the magnet closures on it work well). 2) One pocket on the backpack strap side rubs on your lower back if its full. But there are enough pockets and compartments that it easy to avoid using this pocket.

When I got the bag, I first noticed the depth of the storage space. From the amount of pockets to how deep they are came in super handy when I took the bag to the race track. I was able to take my computer, hoodie, food, and a couple of drinks with room to spare for more stuff. The other big thing I really liked was the heavy duty fabric and the design of the bag. This bag is definitely a great value and can be used for every day use.

I commute everywhere and often with a lot of stuff and had been using a one-sided pannier for the last year. However, I needed to find a way to distribute the weight better on my rear rack after my back wheel started popping spokes from all the commuting weight, but found most double pannier options hard or inconvenient to carry. I haven’t liked bags with a single, messenger bag type strap or small handles for carrying, so, I was thrilled when I discovered this bag.
Both sides of the bag are sturdy and provide ample space for most situations. Many pannier style bags don’t have outside pockets and this has plenty for small items like keys and sunglasses that I need to access easily and quickly. The laptop pocket is well-padded and the inner pockets of both halves of the bag help keep things separated. Material is heftier than the average pannier bag, but I find it stands up well to dirt and even a little rain. Also well insulated enough to carry meals or groceries short to medium distances.
Bag is easy to convert from panniers to backpack. Straps are comfy and easy to disconnect when needed. Previous pannier backpacks I’ve owned have had faulty straps that could unclasp at any time, but I never worry about that with this bag. I find the bag very comfy for long wear, but also make sure to put only flat or soft items in the back section to mitigate any possible discomfort.
The hooks that secure the bag to the rack are sturdy and reliable. I have rarely had them come off when going over rough terrain as I have frequently with other bags as long as both hooks are properly placed and straps are done. The velcro straps on the backs of each section are also sturdy and never come undone unlike on some bags I’ve owned. I will say, because those straps are wide and go over the thinnest part of my rack, the bag can move around a bit when the bag is nearly empty and I’ve occasionally had to make sure the bag doesn’t shift too much between stops so I don’t end up kicking it or it doesn’t end up too close to the spokes.
Only real problem I’ve ever had with the bag is a zipper coming off the track. I wouldn’t mind if the zippers were a bit sturdier and I occasionally resent the extra weight provided by the front flap. However, this is the best looking and most useful pannier bag I’ve ever used and I can’t imagine commuting without it. Even when I’m not carrying that much, I prefer to use this bag over the others I own because it’s convenient, easy to carry and fits a lot of stuff.
Also have to note that the customer service is some of the best I’ve ever encountered. When I wanted to purchase a new bag after accidentally ripping my first, I found the company owners helpful, speedy and willing to keep improving an already great product. Truly think this bag is an essential for anyone who commutes by bike a lot. I constantly get compliments on it and constantly recommend it to people.

This is a style familiar in Southern California in the late 70s early 80s. And it is well done here. The fabric is a gratifying light denim and the pleather has a decent touch and is a ‘cowboy brown on white drawing paper’ color. This is a picture of the back compartment swallowing my 9 by 14 inch Dell work laptop, which it holds quite flat against my back. This laptop does fit precisely inside the padded sleeve. The sleeve is lined with some thin but dense aquafoam, including a strip at the bottom. I haven’t even put it in the bike yet but I have good hopes for that. The saddle width is a fairly standard 5 inches, the clips feel strong, and the Velcro is wide industrial. The decorative buckles are decently finished good alloy with a chrome finish. They come right off if you prefer. The magnetic button catches respond like tiny rare earth or neodymium magnets. It’s a little finicky to get their little fields together but they grip quite positively. This is a well thought out, well made, light commuter, for laptop, lunch, lock, sweater, and two 16 to 20 ounce beverages.

This is a great addition to my bike. It is well made and very versatile. I love the fact that I can take it with me when i leave my bike locked up. It is very easy to get off when I need to. The bag was super simple to install on the back of my bike. The many pockets and security of my items is top notch. I am so glad i found this bag! It is a must if you are a bike rider!

It was time to retire my old backpack and was shopping around for a new one. I came across the Sheyd bags and I loved it from the start! It was very durable over rough conditions while I had to ride my bike in the rain. To my surprise, none of my items got wet. This hold enough things that I need when I have to ride my bike to, and from work. I was able to pack a change of clothes with shoes no problem. Love the color and the material as well. I probably will never go back to a regular backpack!
