I’ve been using a long carriage bolt with a series of washers to press in headset cups for years, but I finally sprang for the proper tool, and this one is so easy to use. It’s made from sturdy materials and feels solid his the hand. the stepped presses made it easy to center the tool on various sizes. The handles unscrew for easy storage when not in use. The thread on the screw rod is well-finished and smooth, and the pitch of the thread is perfect for this work. The thrust bearing between the screw handle and the top press keeps the tool from binding and makes using it under load an easy affair. I look forward to using this tool for many years to come.

So, this tool works well for press fit headsets and bottom brackets. It’s not exactly a well made tool but it can get the job done. Overall, I have another tool that is much heavier duty than this one and was hoping that this one being a bit smaller might be more functional but I’ll leave this one as a travel / backup tool.

It is useless. The threaded rod is not long enough extend beyond both ends of the head on frame of bike. It’s at least 4 inches to short. Even without the ends or ball bearings, or nut, it is to short.
