Bell Reflex Bike Helmet

It fits my big head. The price is right, and I hope I never have to put it to the test.

I’ll admit that the main reason for the purchase is the City of Dallas requires bicycle riders to wear them, or else they get fined. $10 for the first offense, and I guess it goes up after that. So after passing a few bicycle cops around White Rock Lake, it’s already paid for itself.

— Years ago, an inattentive driver hit my bicycle while I was still riding it. I’m lucky to still be alive, really. With so many poor drivers preoccupied with cellphone and texting and beating their kids in the back seat of their SUV’s, there’s no way in God’s Green Earth I’d ride on a city street again, even with a helmet and full body armor. But for a bicycle trail, ya, this will do just fine.
