Mad Crunk, Super Flossy, Straight Flexin… race is in the books

The first annual MCSFSFAFIC5K2K11 started off right with big field and plenty of competition.

A total of 25 stepped up and met the challenge of 70 mile course (A-race).  Our own Bryant Funston and Travis Sherman finished up 2nd and 3rd behind Kris French (Snapple) who came over from Arkansas.  Good to see so much participation from across the river.

The B-race also had a large field (for such a hard race).  The men’s winner was Jeff Fejfar (BPC) and the women’s winner was Casey Malone (M-B womens team)

Plan to get full results up here and on the race website.

M-B / BPC Cycling Team Camp 2011

Conditions looked a bit rough as we all made the drive from Memphis to Nashville.  The sun didn’t come out on that first day making our ride a bit of a cold and blustry slog.

After an evening of dinner and a short meeting, we were all ready for a better, sunnier day.  And it delivered. 2011 is looking to be a good year indeed.

Will Stoffel Wins Howlin’ Half 70.3 Triathlon

Marx-Bensdorf cyclist Will Stoffel headed up to Missouri for the Howlin’ Half Ironman triathlon this past weekend. Will is in the final stages of preparation for Ironman Arizona later this month.

Stoffel was third out of the water, second off the bike, and first by the end of the run giving him a hard earned victory! Stoffel and two others came together late in the run. With time running out, Will made his move on the last hill before the finish, opening a gap over second and third place. Will maintained the gap to the finish to take the overall victory. Total time was right around 4:16 – a solid effort!

Excellent job out there Stoffel!

6 Hours of Herb

John McLauchlin, Bryant Funston, Ryan Bosio, Jonathon Korzekwa, Pam Tate, and Julie Cook all took part in the 6 Hours of Herb mountain bike race that took place out at Herb Parsons Lake.

Course was a 9 mile, very fast loop around the lake. McLauchlin and Funston won the male relay by around 5 minutes over the second place relay team of Bosio and Korzekwa. Tate also tasted victory, being half of the first place female relay 1st place team. Cook, along with her husband Jim Cook (BPC Cycling), took the overall honors for the coed relay category.

Great results on the day considering Marx-Bensdorf Cycling Team uses those thin little smooth tires most of the time. Nice job folks!

Lots of Changes Underway

Well the website issues have been taken care of and we are back live! Lots of changes since the website went down.

The team has finished up a successful season and some have already begun their training for 2011. The Marx-Bensdorf Cycling Team saw 5 riders join the Cat 3 ranks from BPC Cycling, a development style feeder squad for the MB team. Scott Newberry, Phil Daniele, John King, Dale Sanford, Ben Knoernschild, and Mac Johnson will be solid contributors going into the 2011 season.

The women closed out a VERY successful first season. Lots of wins, podiums, and top 10′s for the ladies squad. More info will be steadily uploaded. Stay tuned!
