The Marx-Bensdorf cycling team welcomes Danny Boone to its Category 3 race team. He is the first to “graduate” in 2011 from the ranks of the Cat 4/5 team. Last year the BPC team had a total of 5 riders that made the leap to the parent squad.

Danny has had an outstanding season this year on the BPC feeder squad featuring top ten finishes at the Tour de Tuscaloosa, Mississippi Grand Prix, the Marx-Bensdorf Jackson Road Race, the People’s Community Bank RR and Crit, TN State Road Race, and Gateway Tire Criterium in Nashville. He has proven himself as a excellent climber with a 2nd place finish in the demanding uphill time trial at Highland Rim and a 7th place finish in the People’s Community Bank RR which features the only Category 1 climb on the East Coast. He recently obtained his Category 3 upgrade and will be a great addition the squad.

I have some photos from the event that Matt McCulley and myself took at the race yesterday:

Please add any feedback about how we can improve this event in the comments below (or what worked well). Next year, we will have to find a weekend different from the Sunny King crit to get more people to come down from Nashville.

The first annual MCSFSFAFIC5K2K11 started off right with big field and plenty of competition.

A total of 25 stepped up and met the challenge of 70 mile course (A-race). Our own Bryant Funston and Travis Sherman finished up 2nd and 3rd behind Kris French (Snapple) who came over from Arkansas. Good to see so much participation from across the river.

The B-race also had a large field (for such a hard race). The men’s winner was Jeff Fejfar (BPC) and the women’s winner was Casey Malone (M-B womens team)

Plan to get full results up here and on the race website.
